Karl Robinson admits it is fair from ideal that Charlton Athletic were forced to field centre-backs in both full-back positions in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Fleetwood Town.

Chris Solly could be missing for the rest of the season with a knee problem, Ezri Konsa deputising for the vice-captain at the weekend.

And Naby Sarr filled in on the other flank with Jay Dasilva (ankle) and Lewis Page (concussion) both unavailable.

“Having four centre-backs at home is hard,” Robinson told Charlton Live. “Jay makes those overlapping runs.

“What baffles me is people are expecting Naby Sarr to do what Jay Dasilva does – but he is 6 [foot] 3 [inches tall]. Jay Dasilva couldn’t go and play centre-half.

“It is needs must. We have two left-backs injured and he’s third choice. You’re going to lose fluidity and some of what you do offensively.”
