Man arrested after fatal crash in Bexley

Detectives investigating a fatal collision in South-east London which resulted in the death of a 61-year-old man have made an arrest.
Police were called at 8:30pm on Tuesday March 13 to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Picardy Manorway and Anderson Way – known locally as the Horse Roundabout – which resulted in a Mercedes coming to a halt on the roundabout and the occupants making off on foot.
A second dark coloured car, failed to stop at the scene. Officers initially thought the second car was an Audi, but they now believe it to be a BMW.
Officers, the London Fire Brigade and the London Ambulance Service attended.
A 61-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Next of kin have been informed, and the deceased has been formally identified as Gbolahan Akinlolu Odulate from Erith.
It was initially believed that Mr Odulate was the driver of the Mercedes, but detectives now believe he was a pedestrian.
A post-mortem examination was held on Thursday March 15 at Princess Royal University Hospital and a provisional cause of death was given as multiple injuries.
A 38-year-old man was arrested in Erith on Sunday March 18 on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was taken to a south London police station and has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating. They would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has any other information that may assist the inquiry.
Detective sergeant Jo Densham, leading the investigation, said: “We have now made an arrest but we are continuing to appeal for information.
“We know that a number of people in the Mercedes made-off from the scene and we are keen to speak to them.
