Catford featherweight Ellie Scotney ready to back up the hype

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Ellie Scotney will have her second professional fight tomorrow night and wants to back up the hype.

The Catford featherweight outpointed Bec Connolly on her debut in October.

Scotney, 23, is due to face Mailys Gangloff at Wembley Arena on the undercard of Lawrence Okolie’s clash with Krzysztof Glowacki for the vacant WBO cruiserweight title.

The South Londoner signed a long-term deal with Matchroom Boxing in February 2020.

“It’s nice to hear that people are talking about me being a good prospect, but talk is cheap,” said Scotney.

“I’ve got to start delivering and it is very early days. I can’t run before I can walk, it’s one step at a time starting with March 20.

“Mailys Gangloff was around on the amateur scene, so she’s got that grade behind her.”
