Jed Wallace ‘a bit unlucky’ not to get Millwall’s goal in 1-0 win over Middlesbrough

BY KAI BENNETT

Murray Wallace had plenty of praise for Millwall’s front pairing of Jed Wallace and Mason Bennett in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough.
A Grant Hall own goal was enough to seal all three points for the Lions.
Murray Wallace told the club’s official website: “Jed’s a little bit unlucky not to get the goal, but he did so well to create the chance. We had a good couple of chances that were unlucky not to go in as well.
“You can see the threat they’ve got [Jed Wallace and Bennett]. The pace they’ve both got, it must be a nightmare for defenders. In training when they’re on your shoulder or if the ball’s going over the top of you, it’s hard to keep up with them. They offer us that outlet and are doing brilliantly at the minute.
“You look at our performance last time against Middlesbrough and they came out really, really fast and they scored three goals early on, so we were determined not to let that happen again.
“At half-time we had a similar chat to the other day, we started the first half really well, so try not to let our levels drop. We were expecting them to come out and raise their game, which they did. We did do more defending, and defended well and got the clean sheet.”
Murray Wallace only returned against Derby County last weekend after being out for a couple of months with a broken foot
“I feel okay,” he said. “It’s certainly different playing in a three rather than the wing-back, it’s a little more demanding.
“Derby was a tough game physically after being out for so long, also after not having much training, but I felt good again on Saturday.
“The lads have been working so hard, the fixture list has been very demanding and a lot of the lads need this sort of down time [from the international break]. We’ll be in training preparing for a couple of weeks time, but the rest is much-needed with the fixtures being so congested this season.”
