Classlist @ Sydenham High School

A South London high school received a boost to its funding for new floodlights on its astroturf.

Sydenham High School, in Westwood Hill, received a £1,700 cheque after its Parent and School Association (PSA) started a new fundraising scheme through the website Classlist.

Classlist, a secure and private social network for schools, helps parents contact each other easily and do things like find families to share lifts with, track down lost jumpers and organise fundraising events.

Classlist’s new school sponsor scheme allows PTAs to introduce local sponsors to the site and share 50 per cent of the proceeds.

The money was presented by Classlist co-founder Clare Wright to the Head of Senior School  Katharine Woodcock and it is going toward floodlights for the school’s all-weather pitch.

Lin Skinner, PSA treasurer, said: “It’s been brilliant. We’ve raised £1,700 already and that is in the first two months of starting to look for sponsors for our Classlist site.

“It’s much easier fundraising than various other options you have as a parents’ association.”

Sydenham High School is an independent day school for girls aged four to 18 years. The school was founded in 1887, one of the last schools to be opened by the Girls’ Public Day School Trust.
