Man stabbed in restaurant in Dulwich as moped riders flee

A man has been stabbed in Dulwich trying to flee into a restaurant.

Spinach in Lordship Lane was cordoned off after the incident – the victim was run off the road by a moped and ran into the busy restaurant only to be attacked inside.

The victim has been rushed to hospital where his life is not thought to be in serious danger.

Southwark Police tweeted: “Officers are on scene in #LordshipLane#EastDulwich after a male was stabbed at approx 4:15pm this afternoon – he has been taken to hospital for treatment. No arrests; enquiries continue. If you can help, pls call 101 and quote CAD5053/19Apr.”

Labour MP for Dulwich & West Norwood Helen Hayes wrote: “Very concerned to hear about a stabbing on Lordship Lane this afternoon.

“My thoughts with the victim receiving treatment in hospital & all who witnessed this appalling, traumatic violence. If you have any information please contact the police or @CrimestoppersUK

A statement from the Met said: “Police were called at approximately 16:15hrs on Monday, 19 April to reports of a stabbing in Lordship Lane, SE22.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a male – no further details – suffering a stab injury. He has been taken to hospital for treatment; his condition is not life threatening.

“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
