Catford Wanderers Tennis Club round-up: Ladies second team open season with draw
BY DENIS COSTELLOE
Catford Wanderers’ ladies second team opened their season with a home draw against Wickham Park.
The match hinged on the battle between the second pairs of Liz Murphy and Toni Boardman for Wanderers and Sue Wardell and Mary Foster for the visitors.
After sharing sets Murphy and Boardman powered home by 10-2 in the deciding tie break.
Earlier Catford’s Julie Taylor and Terri Borg picked up a straight sets win over Wardell and Foster, but neither Wanderers pairs could match Wickham’s Tracey King and Pauline McCloud, who won both their matches.
Catford men’s team drew 3-3 at Old Wilsonians. The side was Sean Harvey, Leigh Cole, Andrew Ofori, Brian Brass, Julian Langley and Lyndon Douglas.
