Andy Woodman gives verdict on Bromley’s 0-0 draw with National League leaders Torquay

Andy Woodman was delighted with Bromley’s performance in their 0-0 draw at league leaders Torquay United.

The result leaves the Ravens ninth in The National League.

“It was a good point and more importantly we got a clean sheet, which we had set out to do”, Woodman told BT Sport.

“The game could’ve gone either way. We had a couple of chances that we could’ve done better with. It was a difficult game for both teams. They’re a top team. They’re top of the table for a reason but again we went toe to toe with a top team and I’m really proud of my team.

“When I got the job, there was a few comments from people who said: ‘I can’t understand why this guy has got the job?’ I’ve been in the Premier League for 15-16 years and have worked with some top managers.

“The games coming up will all be tough. We’re going to Wealdstone on Tuesday and these teams are unpredictable. But we will go there with the same tempo and way we set up – we will give it a go. We’ll battling against some big clubs and we’re proud of that.

“There is no point us looking at anything else other than the in-house target. We’re not there yet but when we do get there, we will start looking at the league.

“Liam Trotter has had a tough time since I’ve been here, he’s been trying to play through injuries and I’ve seen the frustrations in him. But he was excellent today. Our keeper pulled off another great save at the end, our back four were resolute so I can’t really pick out anyone in particular.

“We have a togetherness and a bond here, and that’s something I pride myself on at every club I’ve been at, a good team spirit and a good bond will take you a long way.”
