Peckham Town knocked out of London Senior Cup

Peckham Town’s progress in the London Senior Cup came to an end on Saturday as they lost 4-2 on penalties to Bridon Ropes.

The Menace were the defending champions but saw a spot-kick from Jay Virgo hit the post while Youssef Bouimane’s effort was saved.

Peckham’s Adam Carrick was sent off in the 85th minute after making a mistimed tackle on the edge of his own penalty area.

Peckham manager Mary Phillip said: “The heart was there, it was a hard pill to swallow.

“If you don’t do the job in 90 minutes, when you have the majority of the game and you don’t put your chances away and you put it down to penalties, then you’re relying on luck and faith. The luck wasn’t with us today. We are ready to look forward to a new season.”
