City Splash returns to Beckenham Place Park in September

City Splash, the festival celebrating the influence of reggae music, food and culture will return this September at Beckenham Place Park.

The one-day festival has four stages with more than 40 artists performing.

Headliners include Grammy-nominated reggae and dance hall artist Barrington Levy and rising star Lila Ike.

Also performing will be Hollie Cook, Eva Lazarus and Kiko Bun.

The festival aims to celebrate the impact and importance of reggae music on British culture, from ska to dub to garage, grime and drum’n’bass.

Not only has it brought us the rhythm and the lifestyle influence, but it’s a genre that expresses and addresses social issues and their solutions through the music’s messages.

The festival organisers said: “Reggae’s influence on youth culture in London runs deep.

“The genre’s heartbeat rhythm and lyrics about love, redemption and natural living deeply affect fashions, lifestyles, friendships and unify strangers internationally.

“We believe such an important genre musically and socially deserves a prominent place on the annual live music calendar in London and we’re hyped to be bringing it to South London this September.”

The festival will also offer more than 15 Caribbean street food vendors in collaboration with London Jerk Fest.

Festival goers will be able to sample favourite delights from jerk chicken to vegan stew, and fried plantain.

There will also be rum vendors and locally-brewed craft beers, stouts and spirits.
