Sutton United boss keen on Millwall striker re-signing on loan – as he scores on day they seal promotion into EFL

Sutton United secured promotion to the EFL for the first time in their 123-year history, with on-loan Millwall striker Isaac Olaofe playing a massive part in their historic season.

The U’s ran out 3-0 winners against Hartlepool today and the 21-year-old netted Sutton’s third of the afternoon.

Lewisham-born Olaofe had initially signed for St Johnstone on loan with Danny McNamara, where he linked up with former Millwall assistant manager Callum Davidson.

But Lions boss Gary Rowett recalled Olaofe in October after he made just two substitute appearances for the Saints and immediately sent him on loan to Sutton until January 9.

The South Londoner’s loan spell with Matt Gray’s side was extended until the end of the season in January.

Olaofe has scored 16 goals in all competitions for Sutton.

Sutton manager Matt Gray has confirmed he would like the Millwall academy product back for next season.

“He’s probably going to sign again at Millwall for next year, but whether we can get back him back or not [remains to be seen] I’ll certainly be trying,” said Gray.
