Caroline Dubois outpoints experienced Finn Potkonen to be one win away from reaching Tokyo Olympics

Caroline Dubois is just one win away from qualifying for the Olympics after outpointing Mira Potkonen in Paris this evening.

The 20-year-old from Greenwich, the sister of professional heavyweight prospect Daniel, needed two victories to reach Tokyo ahead of facing her experienced Finnish opponent, 40.

And Dubois won on all five judges’ scorecards – 28-27 (three times) and 29-26 (twice).

Next up she will face Italy’s Rebecca Nicoli.

She is in action at the European Olympic Boxing qualifiers. They were suspended in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The competition will continue through to the medal stages and a final because the tournament results impact on seeding for the Games.
