Scott Parker set for Fulham exit as claims of ‘breakthrough’ in talks

Scott Parker looks set to have his Fulham contract terminated by mutual consent, paving the way for the former Charlton Athletic midfielder to take charge of AFC Bournemouth.

Reports earlier this week suggested that protracted talks between Parker and Fulham had reached a breakthrough.

It had been claimed that a stumbling block was that the 40-year-old wanted a £2million pay-off from the west Londoners.

Bournemouth were keen on Parker towards the end of the 2019-20 campaign but Fulham’s promotion to the Premier League killed off those prospects.

But they have once again targeted him following the Whites’ relegation from the top flight in May.

Parker believes he will have more control at the South Coast club and appeared to have an strained relationship with Fulham’s director of football Tony Khan.

He is set to be announced as Jonathan Woodgate’s successor by this weekend.

Fulham have been linked with Swansea’s Steve Cooper as a replacement.

He had been on Crystal Palace’s shortlist to succeed Roy Hodgson but is no longer in the mix.
Cooper, 41, has reached the play-offs with the Swans in the last two seasons.
