Lucien Favre’s move to Crystal Palace is off after late U-turn by Swiss boss

Lucien Favre’s move to Crystal Palace is off after a late change of heart from the Swiss manager.

The Eagles had been expected to announce the experienced Swiss boss, 63, as Roy Hodgson’s successor before the weekend.

Favre had agreed a three-year contract.

But once again the South London club have seen a move fall through after negotiations had reached an advanced stage.

Palace had also looked on the verge of landing Nuno Espirito Santo, with claims that the former Wolves chief’s demands had made them walk away.

The Eagles have a number of their squad due to be out of contract next Thursday. Andros Townsend, one of those players in that scenario, had previously stated that the club would not firm up their plans until they had their new manager in place.
