Millwall line up Den return for George Saville – Boro midfielder set for medical this morning

Millwall are set to bring George Saville back to The Den – with the Middlesbrough midfielder due to undergo a medical this morning ahead of a permanent move.

It will be the 28-year-old’s fourth spell with the Lions.

He was a standout performer for the South London club when they narrowly missed out on the Championship play-offs in the 2017-18 season – spearheading their pressing game and chipping in with 10 goals.

Saville was sold to Boro for £8million early in the following campaign, the Teessiders initially trying to strike a deal for both him and his team-mate Jed Wallace.

The former Chelsea youngster has played 118 matches and netted 12 goals during his time with Middlesbrough but is set to have reduced game time.

And instead he has opted to return to SE16.

Millwall manager Gary Rowett had already talked about adding a goalscoring midfielder to his ranks this summer and Saville will add quality in that area.

Benik Afobe is set to be confirmed as a Lions player this morning. The Stoke City striker’s loan move will mean Millwall have signed four players – with Saville set to make it five.
