Young striker set to be part of Charlton’s first-team plans next season after impressing boss Nigel Adkins

Charlton Athletic manager Nigel Adkins wants Josh Davison to be one of his striking options next season.

The 21-year-old forward had loans with Forest Green Rovers and Woking in the 2020-21 campaign – scoring seven goals in 34 appearances.

Davison, signed from Enfield Town in October 2019, was on target in Saturday’s 2-1 friendly win at Dartford.

His contract runs until next summer although there is also an option to extend.

“I’m really pleased with Josh and he has been with the first-team group from day one and doing really, really well,” said Adkins. “His attitude is outstanding.

“He is really fit and scored a good goal at the weekend. He leads the line really well. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with him.

“Hopefully he has got a really good coaching environment and good learning environment at Charlton. He had a loan spell last season, but I want him to be with us now.”
