Crewe boss unable to give any answers on Charlton-linked winger Charlie Kirk

Crewe manager David Artell has refused to shed any light on Charlie Kirk’s situation – despite the Charlton-linked winger missing their match today.

Kirk, Tom Lowery and Tommie Hoban were all unavailable for Alexandra’s League One opener, a 1-1 draw at home to Cheltenham.

Charlton had bid for Kirk in the January transfer window, but saw the move fall through just before the deadline.

Artell said: “It’s been a tough week. As soon as we know more, we will let yourselves and the fans know.

“There’s not much more I can say. Once everything is sorted, then we’ll make the announcement. But we can’t say anything, because nothing has happened yet. That’s the truth. We’ve got to make sure everything is right and once everyone is happy and things are done and dusted then we’ll let the fans know.”
