Charlton Athletic interested in former Aston Villa winger Corey Blackett-Taylor

Charlton Athletic are interested in former Aston Villa youngster Corey Blackett-Taylor.

The South London Press has been told that the 23-year-old attacker, who is available after his contract at Tranmere Rovers expired, is on the Addicks’ radar.

There had been reports earlier this summer that Wigan were in advanced talks to sign Blackett-Taylor, who signed for Villa at the age of 11.

He has been capped four times by England at U17 level – scoring twice – and left the Midlands club in the summer of 2019, signing a two-year contract with Tranmere Rovers, newly-promoted to League One.

Blackett-Taylor got five goals and six assists for Rovers in all competitions in his first season with them. He can play in a central or left-sided role.

In total he scored eight goals in 61 matches for Tranmere. Blackett-Taylor also made 10 appearances during a loan stay with Walsall.

Charlton have made six signings in the transfer window and completed a move last week for Crewe wideman Charlie Kirk.
