‘Lack of belief’ – AFC Wimbledon boss Robinson gives his verdict on 1-0 loss at Sunderland

Mark Robinson was disappointed with the lack of belief shown by his AFC Wimbledon side during their 1-0 defeat against Sunderland on Saturday.
Carl Winchester’s second-half goal was enough to secure all three points for the Black Cats.
Robinson said: “You can’t hide behind a deflected goal, there’s a reason why we conceded a deflected goal on Tuesday and there’s a reason why we conceded a deflected goal today.
“They had a few other chances apart from that, so you can’t consider yourself unlucky because it’s a deflected goal. We haven’t got up to the ball, he should never be getting a shot off.
“We haven’t come here and believed we can win, we had some moments, we kept the ball quite well in the first-half but needed more purpose.
“No journeys ever smooth so you’ve got to look at this, coming to places like this you have to come and stamp your authority and we did it at times but just not enough.
“I never felt as though we were really taking the game to them, we had little spells where we looked like we might get them but it wasn’t often enough.
“I can’t say I didn’t see there goal coming, it felt like it could come, did I feel like ours was coming? Maybe from a set-piece.
“So it’s a bit disappointing if we’re going to be the team we’re going to be, we need to come here and stamp our authority.”
