Thomas Sandgaard outlines early thoughts on how January transfer window might look for Charlton Athletic
Thomas Sandgaard is open to Charlton looking to add some more young players in the January transfer window.
The US-based Danish businessman clocks up one year of owning the League One outfit tomorrow. And Sandgaard is ready to consider more squad reinforcements at the start of 2022.
He said: “There is obviously a limit, as a League One club, what talent you can attract – no matter how much money you want to throw after it.
“If you were to call up [Lionel] Messi before he signed for PSG, he wouldn’t consider coming to play for a League One club.
“So there are limits to how much you can spend, even if you want to. It is probably not going to be an outrageous amount of money, for that reason alone.
“And if we have an unfortunate streak of injuries, multiple injuries for the same position, than maybe we want to sanction that. Right now it looks pretty good, pretty healthy.
“Let’s see where we’re at. I want to continue to make improvements so it becomes more consistent in terms of what the players are capable of.
“But my gut feeling is we might be able to attract a few more players that are the younger, very talented players, that we want to invest in, maybe on a three or four-year contract.”
