Labour candidate is elected as representative for Hammersmith & Fulham Council

A Labour candidate has been elected as a representative for Wormholt & White City on Hammersmith & Fulham Council.
Frances Umeh won the by-election with 1,462 votes and a majority of 1,031.
The results were announced yesterday, September 23.
Cllr Umeh tweeted: “We did it! A fantastic team effort. I am honoured and humbled to be elected to serve and represent the Wormholt and White City community.
“Thank you everyone for the support.”
According to her Twitter profile, she is also a Hammersmith and Fulham school governor
The results were as follows: Frances Umeh, Labour (1,462 votes); Constance Campbell, Tory (431); Naranee Ruthra-Rajan, Green (110); Michael Illingworth, Lib Dem (86).
The total number of votes was 9,266 and the turnout was a low 22.62 per cent.
Conservative candidate Constance Campbell tweeted: “Feeling proud this morning.
“We increased Conservatives vote in Wormholt & White City by 50 per cent from 2018. It was all worth it.”
The election was held following the passing of the authority’s longest-serving councillor Colin Aherne in July.
Seven ballot papers were rejected – three people voted for more than one candidate and four papers were unmarked or void for uncertainty.
