Millwall boss confident he will finally have fully fit squad after international break

Gary Rowett is expecting all of Millwall’s injuries to have cleared up after after the international break.

Connor Mahoney (hamstring) and Mason Bennett (back) are set to miss tomorrow’s Championship match at Barnsley.

Scott Malone pulled up in the 86th minute of Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Bristol City and had to be replaced by Jake Cooper.

“We’re hoping Scottie was more cramp rather than actually pulling his quad,” said Millwall boss Rowett. “He’s been tight around the hips and back, so we’re hoping it is muscle fatigue rather than a muscle injury.

“I expect that Connor should be back fit after the international break and Mason almost certainly will be. He had an injection and feels a lot better. If we were absolutely desperate we might be able to push for Saturday but common sense dictates it is safer to wait.

“If we get through the weekend unscathed then we should have a full squad for the first time since February.

“We’ve had key players missing. Take [Aleksandar] Mitrovic out of Fulham’s side or two or three out of West Brom or Bournemouth’s teams and they can’t cope with that. We’re even more that way.

“Whatever happens at Barnsley we’re on a good run.”
