Charlton Athletic caretaker boss Johnnie Jackson a big admirer of Rotherham United
Johnnie Jackson is fully aware of the test that Rotherham will pose his Charlton Athletic side as he looks to maintain his perfect record as caretaker manager.
The Addicks have won all three matches that Jackson has taken charge of, including back-to-back victories over Sunderland and Doncaster Rovers since he stepped up following the departure of Nigel Adkins last month.
Rotherham are top of the League One form guide for the last eight matches – banking 20 points – and walloped the Black Cats 5-1 at the weekend.
They have lost just once on the road all season, and that reverse came at the hands of Wigan – the only team to have a superior away record in England’s third tier.
Adam Matthews and Jonathan Leko are both doubts for Charlton but Harry Arter is back in full training.
Asked about Rotherham, Jackson told the South London Press: “They are a really good side. They are one of the best teams in the league and a completely different test – they are big, physical and more direct than perhaps what we’ve come up against.
“They cause you a lot of problems with their physicality, energy and honesty. I really like them as a team. I’m excited because it’s a good test for us – I see all those things from my team in the last couple of games. It’s a good one for us to test ourselves against a team of similar traits.
“They’ve got good players, a good manager and a good coach [Richie Barker] who I know well.”
