Art installation campaign ‘The Tree’ to help raise money for post-pandemic recovery
Members of the public will have the chance to have their name carved on an art installation in the National Theatre foyer as part of a campaign to raise money for the company’s post-pandemic recovery.
Artist Rose Revitt beat a number of competitors to have her design displayed at the venue.
Ms Revitt’s design title The Tree, which is a collection of suspended leaves, takes inspiration from the existing architecture.
She said: “Imprints of trees can be found throughout the National Theatre in the very concrete of the building.
“These provided the initial inspiration for my tree installation, which I’m delighted to have the opportunity to bring to life in the Lyttelton Foyer.”
The Tree also celebrates the collective effort in keeping the theatre alive and will grow to show how audiences and supporters help nurture the theatre.
Donors can have their name, or the name of a loved one, carved on a leaf for £100.
The design will be displayed at the NT for up to five years from the date of installation.
