A midnight walk through the Suffragette City

A midnight walk to celebrate the summer solstice will give an in-depth insight into the sites and secrets of South London’s Suffragette history.

Michelle Baharier, whose family go back generations in Camberwell, leads the walk across Southwark, Lambeth and Westminster taking in such places as the Roman Temple of Diana and the graves of witches and female gladiators.

She will also reveal the story of Wonder Woman’s gaze and conclude outside the Houses of Parliament at Boudicca’s sculpture, revealing the women who led the first #MeToo campaign and burnt London to the ground.

Anyone interested in walking is invite to meet on Saturday June 23, at 11.45pm at the southside of Tower Bridge at the junction between Tower Bridge Road and Queen Elizabeth Street.

Artist Michelle Baharier is passionate about encouraging people to enjoy London at night through walking, sightseeing and storytelling. She will follow in the footsteps of nightwalkers such as Charles Dickens and William Blake, but with a twist. Her Suffragette City walk will engage you in the obscure stories and hidden legacies of women in London’s Southwark, Lambeth and Westminster streets.
