Club banned from being promoted four times looks to the future with open day

One of South London’s most community-minded football clubs is holding an open day on June 30.

Peckham Town FC, will welcome their community and interested players at the Menace Arena,  37 Dulwich Common from 1pm.

This is an opportunity to hear about development plans for the Kent County League Premier Division club for the coming season and beyond, and how residents can get involved. The Mayor of Southwark will attend as part of her commitment to support grassroots football and improving childhood opportunities in the borough.

Bryan Hall (Co-Chair and Founder), Mike Smith (Co-Chair), Mary Phillip (CEO and former England international) and other volunteers will be in attendance to answer questions. Complimentary refreshments (tea/coffee/biscuits) will be available, as well as a cash bar. A training session of some of the club’s teams will take place during the afternoon, which locals are welcome to watch. A screen will also show the World Cup second round game (group C winner vs group D runner up) at 3pm in the clubhouse.

The club has asked possible visitors to register (for free) here, so volunteers can have an approximate understanding of expected numbers. Town are keen to encourage more local people to join and support its plans for growth, and the benefits that this will bring to the community.

Youth football and community work for disadvantaged young people is at the core of the club’s values at Peckham Town FC. It currently runs several youth teams and our Founder and Co-Chair, Bryan Hall, has worked with around 20,000 youngsters over the last 13 years through inter-estate football leagues and would be happy to talk more about the fantastic benefits this has achieved for young people in the local area.

Town have been denied promotion on four occasions due to not having floodlights and other issues regarding the ground. its backers are putting plans in place to address this over the coming season to hopefully enable promotion next season. The women’s team has had a successful season, in winning their league, and improved facilities will benefit them greatly as well. The club hopes to increase crowds next season to see a promotion push for both our women’s and men’s team.
