One positive for Crystal Palace this afternoon – as defender Nathan Ferguson finally makes debut for Eagles
Crystal Palace had one slight positive to take from this afternoon’s 3-0 defeat at Tottenham – with Nathan Ferguson making his first start for the club since joining from West Brom in July 2020.
The former West Bromwich Albion left-back, who has had wretched luck with injuries since his switch to SE25, came on for Tyrick Mitchell in the 82nd minute in north London.
Ferguson made the bench for the first time with Palace missing a number of first-teamers due to either Covid-19 or injuries – including Nathaniel Clyne, who plays the same position.
Eagles assistant manager Osian Roberts said: “I was really pleased for Nathan because he has been working hard behind the scenes for such a long period of time.
“Now, he has been integrated in the first team for quite a few weeks. We have liked what we have seen – he’s a great kid, he has been working hard, and he has deserved this opportunity today.
“We know that there is a lot to come from him, and we look forward to him being an integral part of the group.”
