Smith, keen to be nearer family in Manchester and with his partner expecting their child, has agreed an 18-month deal. His Den terms were due to expire at the end of this season.
The 32-year-old scored 22 goals during his time in SE16.
“Everyone at Millwall would like to thank Matt for his outstanding efforts whilst with the Lions and wish him all the very best for the future,” said the Lions when the transfer was announced.
Everyone at the South London Press thanks you for your continued support.
