Millwall’s match at Blackburn Rovers is postponed

Millwall’s match at Blackburn Rovers has been postponed – with the referee basing that call on player safety.

The official made two inspections of the Ewood Park pitch, with ground staff working to clear the pitch of snow.

“The referee has taken the decision to postpone today’s game on the grounds of player safety due to unsatisfactory pitch conditions following severe weather,” said the Lions’ official Twitter account. “The club sincerely apologises to Millwall fans who have battled the conditions to get here.
“Any travelling Millwall fans still within the vicinity of Ewood Park can collect hot, perishable food from the concourses, as donated by Rovers.”
The referee’s final pitch inspection started at 2.15pm.
Millwall had named their line-up for the fixture with Maikel Kieftenbeld missing out. Tyler Burey and George Saville had been set to come in for starts.
Oliver Burke, who came off with a hamstring injury against QPR, was not in the 18-man squad. Daniel Ballard had been included on the bench.
