Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore: We had total control against Charlton Athletic
Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore has given his verdict on yesterday’s 2-0 win over Charlton Athletic.
George Byers headed the Owls into a fifth minute lead from Barry Bannan’s free-kick.
And Callum Paterson made it 2-0 on the stroke of half time, converting a low cross from close range.
Charlton have lost their last five League One matches while Sheffield Wednesday moved into the top six.
Moore said: “We were in control of the game from start to finish. We got an early goal in the game and then it was about us maintaining our concentration.
“It’s always nice to get the second one just before half time. I said to the boys at half-time: ‘Just make sure you don’t give them anything’. We knew they had to come out the traps and we thought they’d leave one or two spaces.
“It was a professional performance. Yes, we wanted to get the third goal but we made sure we didn’t concede to make the game any more interesting than it needed to be.
“We kept it solid at the back and the mid part of the pitch. There were a couple of times in the second half we could’ve capitalised on one or two opportunities.”
