Dulwich Runners in action at English National Cross Country Championships

Dulwich Runners’ ladies finished 30th out of 104 complete teams in Saturday’s English National Cross Country Championships, writes Jonathan Whittaker.

They were just a few places down from their 27th place in 2018.

Clare Elms produced one of the best veteran performances of the day to go around the eight kilometre course in 35:20 (137th).

Becca Schulleri came 230th (37:14) with Dulwich’s final scorers being Emma Ibell (39:59, 370th) and Katie Smith (40:14, 378th).

The men’s team included a number of the club’s regular Surrey League scorers, as they finish 25th, up from 2018’s 43rd position.

After falling back early in the race after being kicked by another runner, Ed Chuck (61st, 45:28) moved his way through the field to pip Jack Ramm (63rd, 45:29) on the line. Sean Cordon (387th, 51:03), Jon Phillips (457th, 52:08) and Adrian Russell (44th, 52:21) again demonstrated their consistent best, with a post illness Tim Bowen (516th, 52:58) still able to cut through the field.
