Daniel Dubois-Trevor Bryan purse bid process takes place on Monday – Greenwich boxer hoping for home advantage

The WBA have officially ordered purse bids to take place on March 14 for Trevor Bryan’s defence of his world heavyweight title against Daniel Dubois.

Queensberry Promotions will be looking to win the rights to stage the contest and ensure Greenwich’s Dubois has home advantage.

Dubois (17-1, 16 KOs) has had two easy wins over the mismatched Bogdan Dinu and Joe Cusumano since quitting in the 10th round against Joe Joyce in November 2020.

New York’s Bryan (22-0, 15 KOs) earned a split decision victory in the first defence of his belt against Jonathan Guidry (17-2) in January.

Queensberry Promotions promoter Frank Warren told iFL TV: “Purse bids will be open at 10 o’clock in the morning, Panama time.

“His waiting will be over, Daniel has been very patient. It’s got to have been at least five or six months where he could’ve had a couple of fights in between. We’ll do our best to get the fight on over in the UK.

“It’s been really frustrating for us. We made a massive investment in Daniel, we believe in him and his talent. For him to be inactive for as long as he has has been terrible for him and ultra-frustrating for us – because you want to get your guys out there and get them seen. Thankfully we’ve got something to aim for.

“If you win the purse bid you set the date. It’s up to us to win the purse bid and set it for as soon as possible.”
