Charlton boss reveals reason behind loanees’ lack of game time at The Valley

Johnnie Jackson has explained why loanees Nile John and Juan Castillo aren’t getting game time at Charlton Athletic.
The duo made temporary switches from Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea respectively in January but have found playing time limited at The Valley.
John has been an unused substitute on four occasions but never made it on to the pitch. Castillo has one league start under his belt, plus a pair of cameos off the bench, including the EFL Trophy defeat at Hartlepool.
When asked why they haven’t featured much after being brought in to bolster the ranks during the transfer window, Jackson said: “I’ve got players in those positions who, at the moment, they’re in front of them.
“I’m judging every day on what I see in training. There’s been opportunities. Nile has been unlucky because he’s not had a lot of opportunities.
“Juan has had a couple of opportunities that he didn’t really take. Nile can count himself unlucky that he’s not had opportunities. I have been looking to try to get him on the pitch at certain times but the nature of the games and state of play, having to make early substitutions in certain games has stopped me being able to do that.
“[During Saturday’s loss at Accrington] we had Conor [Washington] back and Sean Clare coming back in that meant that two from the previous squad had to miss out. That was just down to my team selection.”

To be honest I would have thought if we had only managed 1 point from the last 24 available I would not worry about what is going on in training but what is happening or nowt as the case maybe! and try something/someone different when are losing games with little time left it should be a criminal offence to leave an attacking player on the bench.
