QPR manager delighted at resilience of his side as they win at Luton Town

Mark Warburton was pleased with QPR’s resilience to come from a goal behind to beat Luton Town 2-1 at Kenilworth Road on Sunday.

Andre Gray’s penalty and a late strike by Rob Dickie cancelled out a Cameron Jerome opener and propelled the R’s to fourth in the Championship.

Warburton said: “We have been on a bad run, they have been on a very good run – they were sixth, we were seventh – and this is a very tough place to come.

“To fall behind to the goal in the first half hurt us but to respond in that manner, both physically and technically, we showed a lot of quality in the second half.

“I am delighted for the players and delighted for the fans. We controlled the game for good periods and managed the game very well, which is most pleasing.

“The Championship is a ruthless division and it is relentless. You have to recognise when you are below your best, and hold your hands up to it.

“It wasn’t ok to lose at home to Cardiff. We had to see a response. We have worked hard all week and trained well, so I am delighted to come here and get the win.

“We have another very tough game on Wednesday against Nottingham Forest. We know it will be a very tough encounter, similar to this one.

“We know we have to hunt the points down one game at a time. If we can do that, we will be in a good place.”
