ScotsCare: High quality sheltered housing for Scots over 55

ScotsCare offers high quality sheltered housing to first and second generation Scots.

ScotsCare is the charity that supports disadvantaged Scots in London with financial, emotional and practical support.

Both first and second generation Scots are supported, and one of the key services the charity provides is sheltered housing for the over 55’s, or over 50’s living with a disability.

The charity offers 96 flats across sites in London, with vacancies currently available at their recently improved Rothesay Court property in Lewisham, where 48 flats in total serve a community of Scots.

A Linkline alarm service is in place and also an onsite support worker is available part time to help with rent, benefits, maintenance and most other issues to help maintain independence.

The high quality flats are self-contained, providing residents with their own flat, and linked by heated corridors, to communal spaces and services including lift, lounge, laundry, guest facilities and a garden.

“I’d never thought I’d get a place like this. I’ve been here 15 years here now, and it means the world to me. I love this place.” Jimmy – ScotsCare resident.

Support is on hand when needed, where residents live alongside people from a similar background in a community where regular social activities take place.

Rothesay Court has an ongoing improvement plan in place to maintain high standards.

Are you Scottish and over 55? Or do you know someone that is? Perhaps ScotsCare could provide you with a safe and secure home.

All applicants take part in a housing assessment to ensure suitability before they are offered accommodation.

After this assessment they may be offered a flat and ScotsCare is also able to provide funds for the moving costs if required.

Former Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick has encouraged everyone in the country who can afford to do so to buy a newspaper, and told the Downing Street press briefing:

“A FREE COUNTRY NEEDS A FREE PRESS, AND THE NEWSPAPERS OF OUR COUNTRY ARE UNDER SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL PRESSURE”

If you can afford to do so, we would be so grateful if you can make a donation which will allow us to continue to bring stories to you, both in print and online.
