Millwall confident of making a transfer breakthrough by the weekend

Millwall manager Neil Harris has provided a transfer update and says that he hopes to have one player in by Saturday’s game against VfL Bochum at The Den.

The Lions boss revealed on Saturday that the club had bids for two attacking players and Harris is optimistic that one of them will be confirmed by the weekend.

Asked whether Millwall are close to bringing anyone in, he said: “Hopefully. We are closer with one of them. One is a non-starter. He won’t be coming to us.

“I am hopeful that we have a player in the building by Saturday. An attacking player, but as ever, these are long drawn out things.

“An interesting stat is that this time last year there were 132 money-based transfers. This year there has been 73. It is so difficult for clubs like ourselves to compete financially, because it is still a seller’s market.

“We will keep pushing and hopefully have a player in by Saturday and gives everybody a lift.”

There had been reports that one of those could be Barnsley striker Tom Bradshaw, but Harris failed to comment. “No comment on any names”, he said.
