Blackpool still interested in summer deal for Charlton Athletic winger

Blackpool are still interested in a summer deal for Charlie Kirk, despite announcing earlier today that he had returned to Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks agreed a loan move to the Championship side in the January transfer window.

Kirk had struggled to make an impact for Charlton under both Nigel Adkins and his successor Johnnie Jackson.

Blackpool included an option to buy the winger for a price believed to be in the region of £500,000, which was also the figure the Addicks paid to trigger his release clause at Crewe last summer.

The Seasiders announced their released list this morning and also confirmed that Kirk and Chelsea’s Dujon Sterling would be heading back to their parent clubs.

It could be that Blackpool seek to renegotiate the fee for Kirk, who is contracted to Charlton until the summer of 2025.

He got three assists in nine league outings for Neil Critchley’s side but did not make the bench for their 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Peterborough United on the final day.

If he wants to go, Charlton won’t miss him.
Crewe pulled their pants down bigtime on that transfer and they’ll do well to get a tenth of that from Blackpool or anybody else
