Charlton Athletic set for Spanish training camp to help prepare for new League One campaign

Charlton will travel hold a pre-season training camp in Spain as part of their preparations for the 2022-23 League One campaign.

The Addicks are due to return for fitness testing on June 16 and will jet off the following weekend.

It will be the first time they have had a foreign training base since the summer of 2019.

Owner Thomas Sandgaard said: “It is important that the team get the opportunity to have a pre-season camp.

“We’ll have a new manager, new players, our current players and also some of young players all coming together for the first time. The training camp will give everyone an opportunity to really get to know each other and to focus on getting ready for the new season.

“We want to hit the ground running this season and a thorough training camp followed by competitive pre-season games will give us an opportunity to do that.”

The League One season starts on July 30.

  • Sciurus Carolinensis Nemesis

Pre-season training camp – with no manager yet installed or players recruited – can’t see any problems arising there, so long as abject failure and the earliest recorded relegation to the fourth division is the owner’s primary objective
Out of the frying pan and into the fire yet again for poor old Charlton and its merry go round of sub-standard owners
