Memorial events to mark the fifth anniversary of the London Bridge terror attacks

Friday is the fifth anniversary of the London Bridge attacks when eight people were killed, 48 injured and hundreds traumatised.

To mark the anniversary, Living Bankside is co-ordinating two events. The first is a service of remembrance at 2.30pm at Southwark Cathedral which will include a dedication and blessing of the Memorial Plaque.

Flowers will be laid at the plaque. Following the service at 4pm there will be an Interfaith Tea at Harper Road Mosque. This will be attended by those in attendance at the service and the wider community.

Amir Eden, executive chairman of Living Bankside said: “The London Bridge Attacks remain fresh and sensitive in my mind and all those who were affected that evening.

“The fifth anniversary will certainly be a day of remembrance and commemoration of those killed, injured and traumatised. “The Terrorists failed in what they hoped to achieve as we committed ourselves to hope over fear, compassion over hatred and unity over division”

On Saturday, June 25, from noon to 6pm, there will be a community festival with fun activities and performances for all – in and around Borough Market – inspired by the late Jo Cox MP and her famous words “We are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us.”
