‘Fantastic’ – Burnley-linked Jed Wallace earns praise from former Millwall team-mate
Ben Thompson has praised the consistency of Jed Wallace at Millwall.
The attacker, 28, is out of contract at the end of this month and has been linked today with Burnley.
The Clarets, relegated from the Premier League last season, appointed former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany as their new manager at the start of the week.
Thompson spent a number of years playing and training alongside Wallace at the Lions. The pair were in Neil Harris’ squad that won promotion from League One in 2017 via the play-offs.
“He is a fantastic player,” said Thompson, who has signed a two-year contract with Peterborough. “It was a joy to play with him, learn off him and watch him develop.
“I remember games when he first joined on loan and you look back on – like Bradford away. He’ll tell you himself he had an awful game and nothing was coming off – but you look at him now and every game he is consistently good.
“He is someone who makes things happen. He has been a key player for Millwall – he has been for a number of seasons.
“I don’t know what he’s doing – that’s down to him. But whether he stays or goes he is a fantastic player for any club.”
