Wandle Industrial Museum Arts Festival draws crowds to Mitcham

The second Wandle Industrial Museum Arts Festival took place at the weekend at Lower Green West in Mitcham.

The event was opened by John Hawks, Trustee, and was attended by the Mayor of Merton, Cllr Joan Henry, her consort, Floyd Blake and Deputy Mayor Cllr Agatha Akyigyina.

There were stalls by local artists, the Mitcham Camera Club, the Wimbledon Common Nature Club and music and singing was provided by The Dreaming River Band and the Colliers Wood Community Orchestra.

The Black Swan Border Morris Dancers and Madder Mill Molly Dancers also entertained teaching visitors how to dance with them.

There were also poetry readings from Alan Paul.

Mick Taylor, from the Wandle Industrial Museum, said: “We were delighted to host this event once again and would like to thank everyone involved for making this such an enjoyable weekend.”

You can visit the Wandle Industrial Musuem at Vestry Hall Annexe, London Road, Mitcham, CR4 3UD on Wednesdays from 1pm to 4pm and on Sundays from 2pm to 5pm.
