Millwall chief admits EFL Cup tie against Plymouth is not a thrilling draw

Millwall manager Neil Harris has admitted that the EFL Cup draw against Plymouth Argyle is not a thriller for either club – but gives the South Londoners a chance to face Premier League opposition in the third round.

The Lions chief was hoping for Crystal Palace or West Ham United before the draw was made.

Instead it is League One Argyle who head to The Den next Tuesday.

“Being at home was key for us because of our set of fixtures – Derby and then Sheffield Wednesday and then Rotherham away,” said Harris. “We didn’t want to travel again.

“Being at home was key. It is not the most exciting draw – for our fans or Plymouth’s fans if I’m honest. But it is an opportunity for us to try and progress, get a Premier League side.

“We’re looking forward to the fixtures. It will certainly be an opportunity for people to get some more minutes. We’ll focus on it once we get past the next two league fixtures.”
