Charlton Athletic’s reward for their dramatic conquest of Championship side QPR is a trip to Walsall.
Ben Garner’s men secured their place in the second round of the Carabao Cup after victory on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
The League Two Saddlers top League Two after winning their two games and have yet to concede this campaign, having defeated Swindon 2-0 in the first round.
The Addicks did the double over Walsall when the teams last met in the 2018/19 season – Karlan Grant and Lyle Taylor netting in a 2-1 win at the Valley.
Charlton are unbeaten in the past eight clashes with the Midlands outfit.
Crystal Palace enter the competition and are also drawn away to League One opposition – Oxford United the opponents at the Kassam stadium.
Palace last faced Oxford competitively in 1998, winning 3-1 on Boxing Day. They also faced off in a friendly in August 2020, when Palace won 2-0.
Karl Robinson’s side are currently in League One, finishing eighth in 2021/22. They were knocked out by Queens Park Rangers in last season’s League Cup second round.
Fulham also enter the competition with an away tie – having been paired with League Two Crawley Town, who beat Bristol Rovers 1-0 to progress from the first round.
Millwall have already been eliminated – losing 1-0 at Cambridge United last week – as were AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday, 2-0 by Gillingham.
