‘I’m running the marathon to raise vital cash to prevent cervical cancer, can you help?’

By Davina Hyde

A consultant is running in the London Marathon in a bid to raise funds and awareness for her friend’s cancer charity.

Katrina Hyde, who lives in Wandsworth, is running the capital’s 26.2 mile course on October 2 for the Debbie Fund, a charity set up by her friend’s family in memory of their mum.

The fund was set up in memory of Debbie Phillips, who died of cervical cancer aged 48.

The Debbie Fund is the only organisation devoted to the discovery of new treatments for cervical cancer, which is essential for the prevention of women and their families, from falling victim to cervical cancer.

Katrina Hyde, 26, said: I am so excited and incredibly proud to be running the London Marathon for such an amazing cause with good friends.

“Debbie Fund has completed critical research into cervical cancer treatments and is the only organisation devoted solely to the discovery of new treatments for cervical cancer and every pound raised goes towards new treatments.”
