Millwall boss on best role for Fred Onyedinma – on-loan striker set to face Charlton today

Millwall manager Neil Harris reckons Fred Onyedinma’s best position is still not clear.
The 21-year-old was loaned to Wycombe Wanderers last week and could feature today at The Valley against Charlton Athletic.
Onyedinma made his first start for the Chairboys in Tuesday’s EFL Trophy tie against Luton Town.
“Over the next six to 18 months he will start finding his niche,” said Harris. “At the moment Fred can play anywhere across the front four positions – either wide area, as an out-and-out striker, high off the shoulder or more of a 10 role. Looking back he is quite similar to Paul Ifill and Lewis Grabban – athletic and unpredictable at times.
“Because he is raw and got pace to beat players I like Fred as a wideman. But we’re still searching to find his best position. I see spells in games where he is a player and others where he looks a little bit raw and still finding his feet.
“We’ve got to try and help him nail down his best position but also not take away his ability to play various positions. In the modern game having players who can impact in different areas is really powerful.”
