Millwall boss hoping for transfer activity before summer window closes at 11pm

Millwall manager Gary Rowett is hoping that there is some late transfer activity for the club before this evening’s deadline for summer deals.

The Lions have made seven signings in the window.

“I’ve made it pretty clear all the way along that I’d like to strengthen,” Rowett told the South London Press. “I’d like to add a player or two to the group. But it has got to be the right player and we are working hard behind the scenes to see if we can make that happen.

“When it is deadline day sometimes that is possible and sometimes it’s not. The issue is not just to do something for the sake of it. We’ve got our U23s who have done really, really well this season. A bit like last season, if we need a couple of those to step up in positions then that is what we’ll do.

“The aim is to try and bring at least one, maybe two, players in that can help make us better rather without trying to get to 11pm and then just be scrambling around to do anything.”

  • We need more than just a “last minute” signing to avoid what could be a terrible season- the manager STILL doesnt know his preferred sytem nor then who should play in what position. Its the worst Millwall line up that I have seen for many years – SHAMBOLIC leadership and organisation
Sliding down the league table at an alarming rate of knots
