This year, the pop-up town of Winterville opens in Clapham Common, from November  23 to January 1

Christmas is less then two months away and festive events are opening up across South London. The wheelchair-accessible event will have the common’s first-ever ice rink, screenings of Christmas classics in Backyard Cinema’s Winter Night Garden, crazy golf on the UV-powered Plonk Golf course and an alternative Christmas market.

The Street Feast area will feature some of London’s best street food traders and there will be free entertainment in the Spiegeltent including an opening weekend set from Norman Jay, Musical Bingo and the Winterville Orchestra & Choir. Ticketed shows include Cirque du Cabaret and Mexican Wrestling. There is also loads for kids to do with a family rave-and Santa’s Workshop. There will be wheelchair accessible toilets available in both the toilet blocks, and the venue will be wheelchair accessible via a ramp.

Crystal Palace Park also has WinterFest from Friday, December 8 until Tuesday, January 2, 2018

There will be festive-themed rides, a carousel, an ice rink, street food, a Bavarian bar and a Christmas market. There is a limit of three wheelchairs per session on the ice rink and PA’s will go free as long as this is pre-agreed.

All bars and restaurants will have accessible ramps and there will be disabled toilets. There will be a children’s area with Santa’s grotto, Santa’s rollercoaster and Toy Land. The ground will be made as even as possible. Admission is free and tokens and tickets can be bought at the event.

Throughout December, you can visit the Greenwich Wintertime

Set in the historic grounds of Greenwich’s Old Royal Naval College, next to the Cutty Sark, there will be a covered ice rink and a Christmas market filled with craft and design stalls.

There will be up to three three-hour sessions per day and a limited capacity per session. Inclusive of the festival entry price, you can watch ice skating freestylers, view up to six shows including live music and theatre and enjoy DJ’s on the mirrored stage. There will be a raised platform for wheelchairs. Not forgetting to visit Father Christmas before he launches from his Greenwich Launch Pad on December 24. The festival will be fully wheelchair accessible with toilets for the disabled.

The Windmill, Windmill Drive, SW4 9DE

This gastro pub is situated in the middle of Clapham Common so is great for a lunchtime drink or evening meal. There is a car park on the grounds and indoor and outdoor seating and a large disabled toilet.

Horse and Groom, 60 Streatham High Road, SW16 1DA

The traditional pub shows live sports and serves delicious pub grub. All on one level, you enter from the car park or high street, where there is a small step. There is a locked disabled toilet.

Mekân Café + Restaurant, 11-13 Bromley Road,  Catford, SE6 2TS

Mekân is a Turkish restaurant serving food with traditional Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern influences. It has a step-free entrance and a large dining area. It also has a large disabled toilet with rails.
