Lee Bowyer warns that injury to Charlton left-back Lewis Page doesn’t look good after Scunthorpe defeat
Lee Bowyer has warned that the extent of full-back Lewis Page’s injury looks like bad news for all concerned.
The left-sided defender hobbled out of Tuesday evening’s 5-3 defeat at Scunthorpe after just three minutes.
The former West Ham man, who had a year-long spell on the side-lines with a succession of injuries before returning late last season, had been suffering with a groin complaint over the last few weeks that appears to have worsened now.
“Something has popped there,” explained Bowyer.
“It’s not looking good for him. Obviously, it’s too early to tell but it’s definitely not good for him or us because we don’t have any cover down that side. Nobody naturally anyway. Naby (Sarr) would normally be his cover but he’s playing centre-half because we don’t have any other centre-half. Otherwise we’d put Naby left-back.
“The only good thing is after Saturday we’ve got the international break so that gives us an extra two weeks to try and get him back fit.”
