‘Poor decision’ – Millwall boss Gary Rowett unhappy at yellow card for Tyler Burey
Gary Rowett has described referee Matthew Donohue’s decision to book Tyler Burey as a “poor decision” in Millwall’s 2-0 win over Middlesbrough yesterday.
The Lions winger was grappled by Paddy McNair and eventually ended up on the ground.
Donohue cautioned Burey first and then also showed a yellow card to the Boro defender.
Rowett said: “We tried to give Tyler a little bit more license. It was a tough game for him today, it wasn’t quite as easy for him to get into space and to effect the game in an attacking sense.
“He worked really hard.
“The yellow card was really harsh. When you watch it back, he hasn’t actually done anything.
“That was a poor decision.
“I just felt it was easier at that point to get him off. But he will come again. He’s done enough to really put a stamp on that position and see if he can keep that shirt.”
