‘Ninety minutes abuse and then a small clap’ – Jed Wallace responds to question over Millwall return

Jed Wallace is expecting some stick on his Millwall return this weekend – but is also hoping for “a clap” at the final whistle.

The 28-year-old ended his Lions career in the summer.

Wallace rejected a new contract and instead signed a four-year contract with West Bromwich Albion.

He scored 42 goals in 260 matches for Millwall.

Wallace responded to a debate on Twitter whether he should get a good or bad reception on Saturday. He responded: “90 mins dogs abuse please mate followed by a small clap after the game if you want.”

Millwall manager Gary Rowett was linked with the West Brom vacancy last week. The Lions chief’s odds dropped to where he was viewed as one of the frontrunners before the connection was played down.

“It’s well-documented I probably played the best football of my career under Gary at Millwall,” Wallace told the BBC’s Football Daily. “I got on well with him.

“I did say to my missus it would almost be like breaking up with your missus, moving 300 miles up the road and then your ex-missus moves into the flat above you and joins the same gym! It would’ve been a bit mad having him again as my manager but crazier things have probably happened.

“Everyone knows I’ve got a great relationship with him and enjoyed playing under him. He’s doing a good job at Millwall.”
